Let's talk about giving back to the Community. Earlier this year, Tedbree and its team of exceptional creatives came up with a life-changing idea to open doors of opportunities to young talents seeking to better their career paths in Business Analysis and Web Development -by organising a free online Bootcamp.
This boot camp focus on training creatives who wish to better themselves in their chosen fields. At the end of this training, we offered six exceptional graduates an opportunity of a paid internship with Tedbree for 3-months. However, certificates were presented to successful participants who completed the program.
Speaking with Owodunni Simiat, one of the participants and a graduate of the Business Analysis Bootcamp. She gave a well-detailed write-up on The Impact of the program on her career Journey So Far.
In her very own words, Simiat wrote:
During Bootcamp
As the end of the program drew near and we were given a project to do on Jira. This was a bit challenging for me as I was indisposed. I had to keep reminding myself about how much I've put in towards learning the course and the project was just a way of validating my hard work. In the end, I was able to pull through, and I submitted my project before the deadline.
Post Bootcamp
The Bootcamp official ended the day we submitted our final project, and since then, I've busied myself with things that have to do with Business Analysis. I've signed up for courses to sharpen my Jira usage, Negotiation and Stakeholders Management skills. In the future, I hope to be a Certified Business Analyst with domain knowledge in Data analytics and technology so I can proffer data and tech-related solutions to various organisational problems. Thanks to Tedbree for igniting and supporting my flare in Business Analysis.
Taking us on the journey of overcoming the challenges faced during the completion of her final project in the Bootcamp, Abimbola Olobayo, a graduate and a beneficiary of the 3-months paid internship in tedbree- stated in an article:
I had a fair idea of what was expected of me and how to go about it, but not wholly. It was like my first real-life project, and while I was excited, I needed to be able to develop and deliver the expected solution in an impressive manner.
I had the following challenges;
- Time (we were given more than enough, but I wanted more)
- Structuring my project appropriately.
- Assuming the role of all stakeholders (this one was tough.)
This is how I approached these issues.
Time
Time is never enough, and one of our core skills as BAs is to know how to prioritise activities and manage resources like time. I started the project by breaking down what needed to be done with milestones. This gave me a bit of perspective, and I ended up submitting it before the deadline.
Structuring Of Project
Structuring my project was one of the things we covered during our learning sessions; we were required to use different tools to achieve results. There was a need to do things rightly and in order. A typical example was writing user stories on Jira. I began by determining my stakeholders and actors, documented their requirements from which I drew out the user stories. While it wasn't perfect at the end of the day, my work's approach made my job easier.
Assuming The Role of Stakeholders
This was a dicey situation for me. The role-playing was fun, though, and it was what I did, and that way, I had fun while also doing the work.
However, the things that helped me while on the final project was the gift of the Community. Some of us from the Cohort met via the platform to discuss the project and how we were dealing with it. This was a highlight for me because I shared my ideas and learned from my colleagues; the different perspectives were quite interesting.
In summary, the Tedbree Business Analysis Boot Camp Cohort 1 was a surreal experience. From the moment I got my congratulatory email from the CEO on getting shortlisted for the program till it was over, I felt terrific.
Having heard from two BA Bootcamp participants, we turn to one other graduate of the Web Development Bootcamp, Simone Abrahams, who enlightened us more on the Bootcamp impact on her career as a Web Developer.
The Tedbree Bootcamp was more than I bargained for. It's a platform of like-minded individuals, persons who are willing to go far and beyond to help a fellow student or team member who may require assistance.
With leaders like Mrs Tommie Edwards, Ayodeji Oladipupo and Ayobami Ogungbesan who have inspired, motivated and enable me to have a tenacious attitude towards work and to always remember that no matter where you are from, you can make a difference.
Enhancing My Design Skills
An essential aspect of this Bootcamp that has influenced my career journey is that it has allowed me to enhance my designing skills and put them to the test.
Developing Good Management Skills
My management skills have been augmented as well. I was and I’m still learning to manage my content and to provide valuable information to an audience. This is a crucial attribute for an individual in the world of creatives and business owners.
I have always had a passion for designing, and this online Bootcamp has paved the way for a new design area for me. Thus allowing me impart knowledge that I have learned from this online training, like precision, being more creative, neat and organised and developing meaningful content. I can now exercise these principles, thanks to Tommie Edwards and the Tedbree Team.
In conclusion, if you would like to participate in the next upcoming Bootcamp, you can start by signing-up to the Community to stay updated and connected.
