How Juicyway Quietly Built a $1B Fintech Giant Without an App or Ads

Juicyway chose a different path—silence. For three years, this African fintech has operated under the radar, amassing over $1 billion in transaction volume and serving high-profile clients like Bolt and Piggyvest, all without a mobile app or a single paid ad.

Juicyway’s growth wasn’t fueled by flashy campaigns. Instead, it acquired a similar business with thousands of users, including high-profile customers like Andela, and relied on word-of-mouth referrals.

What Juicyway Does

Juicyway’s growth also stems from tackling Africa’s liquidity challenges. By offering liquidity pools, real-time exchange rates, and Nigeria’s largest price discovery engine for the naira, Juicyway reduces costs and creates a robust ecosystem for businesses.

Despite flying under the radar, Juicyway is serious about compliance. With experienced leaders and advanced KYC processes, the company ensures secure, compliant transactions, diversifying partnerships with banks and tech providers like Access Bank and Stripe’s Bridge to minimize risks.

Revenue comes from processing fees between 0.2% and 10%, and the company plans to expand its offerings with interest-earning accounts. Following a $3 million pre-seed round led by P1 Ventures, Juicyway is eyeing new licenses to solidify its position as a trusted platform across Africa.

Joining a Growing Movement

Juicyway isn’t alone in the stablecoin-powered payments space. Competitors like Yellow Card and YC-backed Waza are making waves too. But Johnson sees these players as partners in a shared mission to make cross-border payments faster, cheaper, and more accessible.

“Our North Star is simple: give Africans more access to the global economy,” Johnson says. “Everything we build and every decision we make is driven by that goal.”

As Juicyway steps into the spotlight, its message is clear: scale doesn’t always require noise. Sometimes, quiet innovation speaks loudest.
